Primeras Dias--

After a long trip through tropical storm Don, and a king size bed in the dank reaches of the Sheraton Inn Houston, I made it to Buenos Aires. The taxi ride to my house was expected with semi white knuckles and a adrenaline rushed fear for the adventures of the 5 months to come. To explain more, the drivers have no depth perception, and lines don't exist so accidents are apart of daily life along with the in-existence of seat belts. I was dropped of in the middle of a street in Belgrano Buenos Aires with my bags, as the driver was already in the car yelling "Suerte".
I live with the Brandis. They are a very happy family with three daughters. Every Sunday they hand make their own pasta and the whole family comes over. Nidia is a fantastic cook that makes traditional Argentine pizza, and rice and sandwiches. Every morning she makes me tea and little pieces of toast.
My first day here I took a city tour of Buenos Aires where we went to Recoleta ( a cemitary that holds the body of Evita, and is very very old). We went to Plaza de Mayo where the Congress sits and the Congress palace. We went by the Puerto Madero with the Women's Bridge that is supposed to look like a girl doing the Tango, but really is just a white pole at an obtuse angle. Then we went to La Boca which is a sketchy neighborhood that holds Boca jrs. the futbol stadium. Coquil (pronounced Co-qi) told us not to go through here and to not see a game because people love their futbol!!!! They love it so much that there are fights and borachos and the like. Personally I think it would be fun ;). La boca has painted houses and is close to the water. My favorite location was Plaza Dorrego where there is a outdoor market and people dancing Tango.
